She has worked in multiple settings over past 19 years including outpatient orthopedics, acute care, skilled care and home health. She began her career at Lee County Community Hospital and as worked at the managerial level for Lonesome Pine Hospital and Johnston Memorial Hospital during her career. She has been active in the American Physical Therapy Association including serving as Director of the Mountain District of the Virginia Physical Therapy Association in the past. Vanessa received her Physical Therapy degree from East Tennessee State University in December 1997. She has worked in multiple settings during her career, including acute care, outpatient orthopedics, home health, pediatrics, early intervention, and school systems. In January 1998, began her career at Lee County Community Hospital, which was then acquired by Health Management Associates. She remained with Lee Regional Medical Center as Physical Therapist and Director of Outpatient Rehabilitation until 2006, at which time she became employed by Wellmont Health System as Physical Therapist/Clinical Manager at the Pennington Gap Outpatient Clinic. Vanessa remained there until the decision was made to close Lee Regional Medical Center in September 2013. In February 2014, Moving Forward Physical Therapy, Inc. opened in Pennington Gap, Virginia. Vanessa says, “I am honored to say that I am a co-owner of this agency, where we continue to provide quality physical therapy services to our community.” In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, going to the lake, shopping, and watching her daughter play sports.
Josh received his Physical Therapy degree from East Tennessee State University. He has been practicing since 2012, providing care is various settings including outpatient, acute care, and home health. In his spare time, Josh enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family. He also enjoys playing most sports including basketball and cycling.
Stephanie recently moved to Gate City from Cookeville, TN. She has been a PT for 30 years working in a variety of settings, with the last 15 years being in outpatient. Stephanie has 2 children, Justin and Maddie, and two cats. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, working in the yard and crafting.
Kim is the Outpatient Physical Therapy Representative at Moving Forward Physical Therapy. She graduated from Mountain Empire Community College with certification in Medical Records Management. She has been working in the outpatient physical therapy setting since 1992, She enjoys reading, crocheting and genealogy.
Jolanda works as a Rehabilitation Aide at Moving Forward Physical Therapy. She brings 20 years of experience in Outpatient Physical Therapy. She attended Mountain Empire Community and Lincoln Memorial University, receiving certification in Health Information Science. She enjoys reading, photography and attending her children’s sporting events.
Caitlyn has been with Moving Forward since November 2022 as a front office representative at our Big Stone Gap location. She has worked in the medical field for 3 years. In her spare time Caitlyn enjoys spoiling her niece and nephews. She has 2 dogs, Tux and Dakota, and makes sure they have a bandana for every occasion! She also has a deaf Cat, Marshmallow.
Gracie is the front office representative at our Pennington Gap Location and has been with Moving Forward since 2023. She attended South College in Asheville to receive her Physical Therapist Assistant degree in 2023 and is working towards earning her license. In her spare time she enjoys all things outdoors like hunting, fishing, and being out on the lake. She also enjoys spoiling her German Shepherd Kylo Ren who is named after her favorite Star Wars character.
Amanda has been with Moving Forward since January 2024 as our Outpatient PT Office Billing Representative for our Big Stone and Pennington Gap locations. Amanda is married to her middle and high school sweetheart Jason. They have 2 precious boys Easton and Jase and a cat and a dog. She enjoys being with her family, watching Easton play sports, working in the garden, canning, working out, and scrapbooking.
Ashley works as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant at Moving Forward Physical Therapy, Inc. Ashley earned her Associates Degree in Physical Therapy from Wytheville Community College. She has been practicing as a physical therapist assistant since 2012. Ashley has treated patient in multiple setting including skilled nursing facility and outpatient clinic. In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors with family.
Tara works as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant at Moving Forward Physical Therapy, Inc. She earned her Associates Degree in Physical Therapy from Wytheville Community College. She has been practicing as a physical therapist assistant since 2011. Tara has treated patients in multiple settings including inpatient and outpatient facilities. In her spare time, she enjoying being outdoors with her family, reading, and archery.
Kaitlyn works as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant at Moving Forward Physical Therapy, Inc. She earned her Associate of Applied Science degree in Physical Therapist Assistant from Wytheville Community College in 2015. She began working PRN with Moving Forward in 2020 and became full time in September of 2021.
She loves geriatrics and treating total knee replacements. Kaitlyn is from Lee County and in her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband Neil, son Henley, and dog Frankie.
Valerie works as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant at Moving Forward Physical Therapy, Inc. Valerie earned her Associates Degree in Physical Therapy from Wytheville Community College. She has been practicing as a physical therapist assistant since 2002. She provides physical therapy for wide range of patient varying from pediatrics to geriatrics. Valerie has treated patient in multiple setting including skilled nursing facility, school systems, inpatient rehab, acute care, and outpatient clinic. In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors with family, camping, and kayaking.
Mandy works as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant at Moving Forward Physical Therapy, Inc. Mandy obtained her Associate of Applied Science degree in Physical Therapist Assistant from Wytheville Community College in 2010. She began working with us in 2020 just before the pandemic and helps out when she can.
Mandy enjoys playing golf, cooking, her Peloton, and is a mom to four fur babies.
Crystal has been working PRN for Moving Forward Physical Therapy since December of 2023. She is a graduate of Wytheville Community College, graduating class of 2000. She has worked the majority of her 24 years as a PTA in home health care and skilled nursing. She is very grateful to Moving Forward Physical Therapy for the opportunity to work in a clinic based setting with such nice people. The days are fun and fast-paced with never a dull moment! In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family and spoiling her grand babies!
